I’ve always wondered what walnut butter tasted like. I figured it would be really good since I love walnuts, but the butter is not only hard to find, but when you do find it, it’s expensive.
The solution? Buy a 1 pound bag of walnut halves and pieces from Trader Joe’s for just $4.99 and use your food processor to make your own walnut butter! It’s an easy and inexpensive way to make Christmas gifts for coworkers, too!
Here’s my recipe for my maple cinnamon walnut butter. Use your imagination to come up with all sorts of flavors!
I was messing around in the kitchen and came up with this deliciousness!
Maple cinnamon walnut butter
1 lb raw walnuts, halves and pieces
2 teaspoons maple extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons Swerve brown
2 to 3 tablespoons melted coconut oil
Place walnuts in a food processor and grind until a paste begins to form. You’ll have to stop the food processor periodically to scrape the sides back down into the bowl.
Once the paste forms, add remaining ingredients and continue to grind until the Walnut butter reaches your desired texture. Adjust the seasonings to your taste.
